HEDVA was founded by Johanna Reed in the spring of 2008,
in Santa Barbara, CA. The studio works in two, three, and
four dimensions. We are interested in wearable technologies,
conceptual environments, and sensual information.
HEDVA was named after Johanna's maternal grandmother,
whose own Aunt Hedva came to America from Belarus in 1895.
According to Grandmother, Hedva means "birdy" in Bohemian.
Johanna is currently pursuing her degree in Design | Media Arts
at UCLA's School of the Arts and Architecture.
